Bridging Divides, Building Peace: Transforming Pain into Purpose

Welcome to MFWAFO Foundation

MFWAFO Foundation is a Kenyan nonprofit transforming lives by restoring dignity and unlocking opportunity. We nourish the elderly, support youth recovery from addiction, and empower women and young people with skills to build sustainable futures. Rooted in hope, resilience, and community-driven change, we integrate peacebuilding, environmental stewardship, gender equality, and mental health support across all our programs—because lasting impact comes from addressing every challenge, together.

Our Mission

To kindle the flame of hope and restore the sacred dignity of every individual by weaving together the wisdom of generations through inclusive, intergenerational, and climate-conscious programs. We strive to unlock doors to economic freedom, open pathways to education and opportunity for all, heal the wounds of youth through recovery and reintegration, nurture holistic wellbeing, protect the planet’s fragile beauty, and sow seeds of peace that blossom into resilient, thriving communities.

Our Vision

A world where the twilight years of our elders shine with dignity and respect; where the youth rise from the shadows of struggle into the light of hope and opportunity; where women and persons with disabilities stand proudly as pillars of strength and inclusion. A world where communities breathe health, nurture peace, and grow in harmony with the earth—woven together by the threads of compassion and resilience.

Our Programs

What We Do

Elderly Care & Support

Because aging with dignity is a right, not a privilege.

Too many elders in Kenya are abandoned or living in deplorable conditions. We respond with:
   • Monthly food and care packages
   • Home visits and psychosocial support
   • Construction of a purpose-built Retirement Village for 2,000+ vulnerable seniors

🎯 Goal: Reach 2,000 elderly citizens by 2026
📍 Aligned with: SDG 1 (No Poverty), SDG 3 (Good Health), SDG 10 (Reduced Inequality)

Youth Rehabilitation & Reintegration

From addiction to ambition, we walk with them.

Youth in our communities face rising substance abuse, unemployment, and hopelessness. Our program offers:
   • Detox and rehabilitation
   • Mental health and trauma counseling
   • Life and vocational skills training (digital, carpentry, agriculture)
   • Reintegration support and mentorship

🎯 Goal: Support 500 youth per year by 2026
📍 Aligned with: SDG 3, SDG 4, SDG 8, SDG 16

Women & Youth Economic Empowerment

Empower a woman or youth, and you transform a village.

We equip women and young people with tools for economic independence:
   •Tailoring, weaving, and climate-smart skills
   • Business mentorship & financial literacy
   • Access to startup capital through Besma SACCO Ltd

🎯 Impact: 60% report increased income within 6 months
📍 Aligned with: SDG 5, SDG 8, SDG 13

Impact Stories

“They Left Me to Die. MFWAFO Gave Me Life.”
At 84, Mama Teresa was found living alone in a collapsing mud structure in Nairobi. Abandoned by her children and too frail to work, she survived by begging for food scraps.
Today, thanks to our Elderly Care program, she receives regular food, medication, and companionship. She now sleeps in a clean, safe shelter—surrounded by love and laughter.
“For the first time in years, I feel like I matter. I eat. I pray. I smile.”

“From a Street Addict to a Skilled Carpenter.”
Brian joined a gang at 15 and quickly became trapped in drug addiction. After multiple arrests, he came to MFWAFO’s Youth Rehab program broken and hopeless.
Through counseling, detox, carpentry training, and spiritual mentorship, Brian is now sober, employed, and mentoring others.
“MFWAFO didn’t just help me recover. They gave me purpose.”
